2024 March Drawings and Paintings

This month’s main project: Finishing my coloring book & Posca experimentation

March brought lovely weather and a busy schedule for completing my coloring book. The book in draft at the Kindle Direct Publishing site but needed to complete one of the paintings called Mountain Clouds Beach for the book. I also need to design the book cover which I’ll be working on tomorrow. This month’s paintings were done in acrylic gouache and Posca acrylic markers. I’ve worked in acrylics before but not in gouache and in marker form. These are very colorful, lay down flat, and easily layered. Mountain Clouds Beach looks very flat and graphic due to large areas of gouache with the color line art.

In Red Door Teal Building Tree, I used Posca acrylic markers with different techniques and additional pens to help create the texture but also leaving some areas flat. I love the flatness of the red building against the teal areas which was done with a wet on wet technique. The other elements are layered markers with the details brought out with Sakura Gellyroll pens.

And all the drawings are for the next volume (yeah!) of my coloring book. Each page will be filled and have a lot of interesting details. I’ll be completing the art plates with primarily alcohol markers. My coloring books will be available in PDF on my website and as a physical book on Amazon.
